Chicago Soundings is a contemporary music series, organized by composer-pianists George Flynn and Tom Stevens.

George Flynn  has composed over 150 works in all media, including six hours of piano solo music, and has recorded for Turnabout, ATCO, Finnadar,Wounded Bird and Southport records.  Several CD’s of his music are available, most notably on the Southport Composers label.  His music also appears on the BIS label (Fredrik Ullén’s recording of Trinity), and Music and Arts label (Carlo Grante’s recording of Glimpses of Our Inner lives).  Flynn received his academic degrees from Columbia University, New York City, and taught at Columbia and DePaul Universities as well as Lehmann College (CUNY).   He has been visiting lecturer/composer at many music institutions throughout the country and Canada, and has contributed articles to several American publications.  As a pianist Flynn has performed and recorded new music for many years in the US and Europe.  He is the recipient of awards from many individuals and organizations, is a member of ASCAP, and is entered in The New Groves Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Baker’s Biographical Dictionary, and Maurice Hinson‘s Guide to the Piano Repertory.
